1Cor. 12:4-5 (KJV) Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
Rom 10:12 (KJV) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
One common form of distraction from our gifts, our potentials, ourselves and of course, our destiny is the next person to us. A major reason why most of us are not working on ourselves is that we are swept off by what our neighbour has.
We tend to be so intimidated by our neighbour’s gift and progress that we play down on ours completely. We are more likely to rate others higher than ourselves.
This often breeds envy and contempt, which in turn degenerates to a keen competition and an urge to outperform and tear down the other person, as though this guarantees our promotion.
