Inspiring Change Through Literature and Media
Pro 6:6-8 (KJV) Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
A common excuse for ‘coasting’ in life thereby abandoning our life’s dreams and aspirations is the absence of external motivation, which rather sadly, we may never get!
…when the desire for external motivation becomes a NEED or a Critical Success Factor, then we become sluggards and slow down with respect to our life’s visions!
The truth is that while we all would truly perform a lot better with a pat on the back, we don’t compulsorily need an advocate to bring our dream to fruition.
Paraphrasing the Preacher in our today’s text, when the desire for external motivation becomes a NEED or a Critical Success Factor, then we become sluggards and slow down with respect to our life’s visions!
The ant is one of the seemingly most insignificant insects, having no strength, mentor, governor, supervisor, advisor, advocate nor ‘fan’ whatsoever. Yet, it does not despise itself nor wait for any external motivation to do what it has to do. Guess it would have been extinct by now if it did!
Do not allow the greatness in you to go into extinction. Learn from the ant, give yourself the required PUSH and start working it out today!
Lord, each time I get discouraged and lose the motivation to continue with the pursuit of my life’s passions because I do not get the required help and support from people I look to, please help me to remember the ant and to rely on You for the PUSH I need to work it out. Amen.
