Inspiring Change Through Literature and Media
While praying, this morning, I saw a hard rock slightly eroded by steady drops of water, slowly hitting the same spot. Then I saw a hammer hit the same rock and yet the rock remained whole and stood still.
Then I heard in my spirit, “… a soft tongue will break a bone… And these consistent strokes will break that rock. It’s giving way on the inside- only time will tell…”
I hardly noticed it, but just kept on praying.
While going about my business later in the day however, the picture and the words came back. And then the message sank in so deep that I had to take a pause amidst my busyness to share this one.
Are there areas where we are about giving up because we have been praying, giving, prophesying, loving all these years to no avail while the situation remains unchanged with the object of our faith still adamant as a hard stone?
Are there projects or even people we have written off in resignation that nothing good can ever come out of ‘this one’?
Well, it isn’t time to give up yet, because a live dog is better than a dead lion. Moreover, for whatever is joined to the living, there is hope. (Eccles.9:4)
Keep giving. Keep praying. Keep prophesying. Keep loving. Keep hoping. Keep expecting. Keep keeping at it. For that “rock” is giving way slowly on the inside. And very shortly, one single stroke will bring it apart. And from thenceforth, every single drop in your bowl, every little effort on your part will lead to an overflowing.
Let us not be weary in well doing, for we shall reap a sure reward shortly, but ONLY IF we faint not! (*1)
Lord, at those times when there is no visible sign of progress and my challenges remain rock solid despite my prayers and efforts, please teach me to NOT give up but to keep at it for definitely, the rock is giving way on the inside. Amen.
