Inspiring Change Through Literature and Media
Psa 30:5 (KJV) … weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Has your dream ever been shattered before? Has your hope been dashed? Have you dreamt about a beautiful life, and even gone further to plan, set goals and pray about it all, only for everything to suddenly become a mirage? Worse still a nightmare?
Nothing can be more harrowing and devastating in life!
Image dreaming of a quality education abroad only to lose a sponsor just prior to admission; dreaming of a beautiful married life to a charming man or woman only to lose him or her to another; dreaming of a home filled with children only to get married and have to keep waiting; or dreaming of a successful career after school only to have to keep hunting for a job for years after graduation… really, nothing could be more heart rending and confusing.
At such times, one is tempted to ask, “Lord where are you in all this and where have you been all along?”
One is tempted to give up on faith, hope, life and even God altogether.
One is tempted to quit in surrender to fate and opt out of life.
One is tempted to complicate matters by attitudes of ingratitude, murmuring and bitterness.
But all this needn’t be.
If you are there today, you should please understand three things:
1. God is sovereign. No matter how dashed your hope is, your destiny remains intact if you trust Him!
2. God knows! He sees what you are going through and feels your pains.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. (Heb.4.15)
3. As long as you love God and are doing His will, everything will work together for your good and push you further towards his purpose for your life eventually!
We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.
Rom 8:28 (GNB)
In all, please keep holding on to God and resist every temptation to give up on faith, to stop dreaming or opt out of life. No matter how long the night is, dawn is bound to come
While the earth remains… day and night, shall not cease.”
Gen. 8:22 (ESV)
Now whose report do you believe?
In subsequent titles in this series, we shall look at how the man Joseph handled his shattered dream so well that his destiny was preserved despite all he had to go through. Please don’t miss any.
Lord, I sometimes get overwhelmed when I consider my broken dreams. However, I take solace in knowing that You are sovereign and that You will some day turn everything around in my favour. And I rejoice.
Please grant me the grace to not opt out of life, but to keep dreaming on with the full assurance that You will bring it to pass shortly as I put my trust in You. Amen.
