Mark 5:39-30 (KJV) And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn…
If you’re in the habit of giving up too soon:
The choice is made, and that is conclusive
The case is closed and why press any further?
The damsel is dead why still trouble the Master (*1)
The harm is done and that must be final!
If Thou hast been here, Lord my brother had not died (*2)
It’s already too late, why try any longer…
But why make ye this ado, and weep? (*3)
For yes the case is closed but can be reopened
The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. (*4)
Our friend Lazarus sleepeth;
But I go, that I may awake him out of sleep (*5)
For I am the resurrection, and the life:
He that believeth in me, though… dead, yet shall he live: (*6)
If only you’d let Jesus in with His restorative power…
Then you’ll discover it’s only a break for the script is not over …
Lord, how quick I can be to quit trying and to give up while You are still very busy working it out!
Please grant me the grace to not quit even when it seems all hope lost, but to keep hanging on by faith in Your resurrection power until I see Your miracle indeed. Amen.
